Season 2026

Driving on the A13 motorway via the Brenner Pass to Italy requires an additional section toll. Register your license plate and use the green lanes without stopping.
A13 Brenner Motorway – Key Information for Drivers
The Brenner Motorway (A13) is one of the most important traffic arteries in Europe, connecting Innsbruck in Austria with the Brenner Pass on the border with Italy. This route is incredibly scenic, but due to the high maintenance costs of bridges (including the famous Europabrücke) and alpine infrastructure, it has been included in the Streckenmaut system.
How does the digital ticket for A13 work?
In 2026, the most convenient form of payment is the digital ticket. The system relies on cameras recognizing license plates. After purchasing online, your license plate number is entered into the ASFINAG database in real time.
- Green Lane (Digital Toll): At the Schönberg toll plaza, choose the lane marked with green.
- No Searching for Your Wallet: The barrier will lift automatically as soon as the camera identifies your vehicle.
- Immediate Validity: By registering your license plates with us, you can enter the motorway immediately after receiving confirmation.

Europabrücke Bridge – A Pearl of Engineering on the A13 Route
When traveling on the A13, you will cross one of the highest bridges in Europe. The Europabrücke rises 190 meters above the Sill Valley. This structure is the main reason why Streckenmaut applies to this route. Funds from tolls are used for continuous monitoring of the structure and ensuring maximum safety given the immense volume of transit traffic.
Winter Driving and Speed Limits (IG-L)
The Brenner route is passable all year round, but in the winter months, winter tires are mandatory, and in extreme conditions, snow chains. Additionally, environmental restrictions (IG-L) apply to a large part of the A13, limiting speed to 100 km/h to protect air quality. Exceeding this speed results in very high fines.
