The A10 Tauern motorway is one of the most important north-south routes in Austria, connecting Salzburg with Carinthia and Italy. Its key section includes the Katschberg and Tauern tunnels, for which an additional section-specific toll (streckenmaut) applies.
Important: the national vignette does not cover the Tauern section. You need a separate ticket. The easiest way is to order an Austria vignette and the A10 ticket in one order.
Why is A10 Tauern subject to a separate toll?
The A10 motorway section has been classified as a "special toll section" (Sondermautstrecken). Due to the enormous costs of maintaining alpine infrastructure, separate fees have been introduced independently of the vignette. Registration is digital – after purchase, your license plate number is added to the camera database at the toll booths.
